During road testing of the standard car (200 BHP) we saw peak inlet charge air temperatures of 57 °C (quite high when you consider that most engine mappers will look for sub 40 °C peak inlet temps).
Our car was then fitted with a stage 4 Courtenay system (turbo, injectors, milltek and re-map) and was then subsequently extensively run on the rolling road. The highest temperature we saw (all day) was 36 °C.
This is a similar story on the road and track with temperatures topping out at 37 °C.
We are reliably informed that with a similar tune and other aftermarket cooling systems fitted, Courtenay have seen temperatures in the region of 69 °C.
(A general rule with intercooling is for every 3 degrees you can reduce the inlet temperatures, you will gain 1 BHP)
