Geneva 2009: Renaultsport Clio 200
The Renaultsport Clio is one of our favourite hot hatches, and it has been given a bit of a mid-life makeover. It's called the Renaultsport Clio 200 too
Featuring the slightly questionable new facelifted Clio look, the RS version gets an F1-inspired front bumper, hot air extractors on the front wings and a rear diffuser which Renault claims really works.
One of our only complaints with the outgoing RS197 was that the steering was a bit numb. This has been recalibrated, which should help make the Clio even more chuckable.
New damper valving should help ride comfort on motorways, meaning you can speed to your favourite B-roads without jiggling yourself stupid.
When you get to that favourite twisty road, you’ll be pleased that the Clio has a couple of extra horsepower to call on, while the front brakes are now supplied by Brembo.
The new Clio RS will go on sale in the UK in May, and be offered in two trim levels. There’s a more luxurious version which has plenty of kit like air con and leather, while the Cup version is 36kg lighter and 7mm lower and it the one we’d have any day.
