Description :

Are you less than impressed with the way your Lotus Elise/Exige/VX220 doors rattle on the striker pin, I know I was with my S2. The basic problem is that the standard pins are far from the optimum shape or size to support the door properly. Wrapping bits of tape around the pin, changing door seals, moving the pin up 1mm or pulling the door tighter into the frame don,t address the problem they just spoil shut lines and panel alignment or delay until the next time.

I supply a direct replacement set of 2 stainless steel pins and adjustment washers that once fitted will correctly support the door and eliminate the banging. These pins are significantly different from the pins Lotus supply even if you have had it apparently fixed under warranty. They are designed to fit the door lock properly and give good support.

Q, Should you change these pins if you door isnt knocking yet ? Well knocking mostly starts once the door rubber seal deforms with age which is normal and this should not be a reason to renew it. Once knocking starts it damages the lock making it looser and if left for long enough it may require replacement. Certainly it would be best to upgrade the striker pins as soon as possible after knocking is heard or in anticipation if you prefer.

Fitting the pins is straightforward. As they are a direct replacement it takes a competent DIY person about 15 minutes to complete and requires only a 17mm spanner.

Stainless steel will not corrode unlike the originals so they look good as well !

The door closes just as easily as before but with a more satisfying feel.

I have had a lot of questions regarding which Lotus these will fit. These pins will fit any Elise or Exige model both series 1 and series 2 and will also fit VX220
